Engine Options

2025 Chevy Colorado

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado offers five trim levels, including a base work truck, a stylish everyday hauler, and highly specialized off-road vehicles. Choose from the WT, LT, Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2, with increasing levels of equipment and capability. Every Colorado comes with a four-door crew cab and a 5-foot bed.

For 2025, Chevrolet Colorado engine options focus on a single powerful engine, discontinuing the previous standard 2.7-liter turbo. Each model now features the higher output 2.7-liter TurboMax variant delivering consistent power and capability across the Colorado model lineup.

Under the 2025 Colorado’s hood is a 2.7-liter TurboMax inline four-cylinder engine with automatic stop-start technology. It delivers 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The TurboMax engine optimizes responsiveness and provides diesel-like low-end torque to give the Colorado its superb towing and hauling capability.

Performance

The Colorado’s responsive engine provides a smooth and refined ride on Kentucky highways while lots of low-end torque makes it easy to navigate the Richmond city streets and haul heavy loads. If you’re looking to take your Colorado off the beaten path, the Trail Boss and ZR2 models sacrifice a little on-road refinement for a lot more off-road capability.

You can select from up to five available modes to adjust to changing road surfaces and maximize your Colorado’s performance. Normal is the default mode, while Off-Road mode gives you more traction on loose surfaces. Terrain mode helps you navigate steep hills and climb over obstacles. The available Tow/Haul mode enhances your vehicle’s towing and hauling performance. The ZR2 also offers Baja mode for optimized control and traction on sandy terrain.

Fuel Efficiency

With rear-wheel drive, the Colorado rewards you with an EPA estimate of up to 20 mpg for city driving and 24 mpg on the highway. Four-wheel-drive models return up to 18 mpg around town and 22 mpg for highway driving. The ZR2 is estimated to deliver 17 mpg for both city and highway driving.

Towing and Payload Capacity

The Colorado WT and LT trims come standard with rear-wheel drive and offer the option of four-wheel drive, which is standard on Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2 models. When properly equipped, the Colorado has a class-leading maximum towing capacity of 7,700 pounds, which drops to 6,000 pounds for the ZR2 with its extra off-road equipment. The maximum payload ranges from 1,423 pounds to 1,720 pounds depending on the trim level.

The available Trailering Package gives you a receiver hitch, four- and seven-pin connectors, an electrical harness for connecting the trailer lights and brakes, and an automatic locking rear differential.

Off-Road Features

When it comes to off-roading, the Colorado Trail Boss and ZR2 have the specialty features to take you wherever you want to go.

2025 Colorado Trail Boss

For tackling the trails, the Trail Boss features a 2-inch factory-installed lift, 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, fender flares, an automatic locking rear differential, a two-speed transfer case, and hill descent control. You can also opt for performance middle and front skid plates.

2025 Colorado ZR2

The ZR2 takes off-road capability to another level. It gets a unique front fascia, rear bumper, and fender flares for improved ground clearance. It also offers 17-inch wheels with 33-inch mud terrain tires, rock rails, and power-locking front and rear differentials.

For the ultimate in capability, the ZR2 Bison Edition package has class-leading underbody protection, ground clearance, and breakover angle. It adds American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) stamped boron steel skid plates, 17-inch AEV wheels with 35-inch mud terrain tires, Multimatic jounce control front and rear dampers, and steel front and rear bumpers with an integrated winch mount.

Colorado Safety and Driver-Assistance Tech

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado comes standard with the Chevy Safety Assist suite of driver-assistance technologies to help keep you safe on the road. It includes lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, a following distance indicator, forward collision alert, LED reflective windshield collision alert, automatic emergency braking, and front pedestrian and bicyclist braking.

Available safety features include signature LED daytime running lights, blind-zone steering assist with trailering, rear cross-traffic braking, rear pedestrian alert, and rear park assist.

Colorado Trim Level Features

All Colorado models come well equipped. The WT has daytime running lights, 17-inch wheels, remote keyless entry, a push-button start, cloth upholstery, and an 11-inch digital instrument display. The infotainment system has an 11.3-inch touch screen, Google built-in, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, and a six-speaker sound system.

The LT and Trail Boss models add a remote-locking tailgate, a center console, and a wrapped steering wheel. Step up to the stylish Z71 for LED headlights, heated power-adjustable mirrors, cruise control, cloth and synthetic leather upholstery, a sliding rear window, and two 120-volt power outlets.

The ZR2 features remote start, an EZ-Lift tailgate with a storage compartment, a spray-in bedliner, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a tilting and telescoping steering column, and an automatic-dimming rearview mirror.
