The clubhouse serves food and drink, which you can enjoy from the perfect lunch spot on the club’s outdoor patio. There’s also a pro shop at the club for all your golf equipment needs. Boone’s Trace National Golf Club

Offering golfers beautiful views while they play, Boone’s Trace National Golf Club sits on the bluffs overlooking the Kentucky River. The 6,659-yard course, which was designed by David Pfaff and first opened in 1999, features bent grass fairways and greens.

The course at Boone’s Trace National Golf Club is always in great condition and capable of withstanding the dry summer conditions. The signature 18-hole course features a high-risk-reward shot over a water feature to reach the green below. This course is famous for its scenery that takes you through hardwood forests and gives you beautiful views over the surrounding hillsides. You might even get lucky and catch a glimpse of a deer or turkey as they stroll through the grounds.

The University Club at Arlington

The University Club at Arlington features the 6,638-yard Arlington Association course. This 18-hole championship course is one of the area’s top golf courses and sits on 200 acres of rolling hills. It boasts mature trees, beautiful water features, and picturesque views. It’s perfect for golfers of all skill levels who will love the Zoysia grass fairways and bent grass greens. The grounds crew works hard to ensure the playing conditions are always the best in the area.

The club has a practice range with a three-level teeing area, chipping green, and putting greens. There’s also a practice bunker and the Colonel Golf and Learning Center. If you want to work on your game, the PGA professionals on staff will provide lessons for all levels of play. In addition, the club offers clinics, swing lessons, club fittings and repairs, and lesson packages.

Gibson Bay Golf Course

The Gibson Bay Golf Course, designed by Michael Hurdzan, is a 7,100-yard, par 72 course located in the Lake Reba recreational complex. It opened in 1993 when Gold Digest recognized it with an honorable mention for the best new public golf course in the U.S.

The Gibson Bay Golf Course has up to five tee boxes on each hole, designed for all skill levels. The tees, fairways, and greens are all bent grass, and the course is long and open, allowing the wind to significantly influence every player’s shot. However, many of the greens sit on the hillsides and get protection from bunkers and mounding.

The 807-yard short course at Gibson Bay Golf Course is another excellent option. This course 9-hole course has a par of 27 and is geared toward junior and beginner golfers and those interested in improving their short-game skills.

Battlefield Golf Course

The 6,313-yard Battlefield Course at the Battlefield Golf Club has a par of 72. It features Bermuda grass tees and fairways with bent grass approaches and greens. The rough is a combination of Kentucky bluegrass and fescue. The holes at this course are challenging and diverse, making it a good place for beginners and advanced players alike. Novice players may lose a few balls, but they’ll also gain valuable experience.

Members of the Battlefield Golf Club enjoy access to the course at any time. The club sells single, single-plus-one, and family memberships.

Thoroughbred Golf Club at High Point

The Thoroughbred Golf Club at High Point in nearby Nicholasville, Kentucky, boasts a 6,114-yard golf course with a par of 71. Daniel McQueen designed this 18-hole course, which first opened in 1993. The club features a driving range, a golf school, and a golf pro on staff, providing lessons for golfers of all levels. All the 45- or 90-minute on-course lessons come with unlimited range balls.

While the course is open in design, there are some hills, doglegs, and elevation changes that add character and challenge. It’s a great course for those with a mid to high handicap.

Southwind Golf Course

Southwind Golf Course in Winchester is a 6,265-yard course with a par of 71. This 18-hole course is fun and challenging and only a short drive from Lexington and Richmond. You can walk the course, or, if you prefer, carts are available to rent. Remember that metal spikes are not allowed. Golfers can expect to see nicely maintained greens and enjoy the beautiful scenery while they play. Also, suppose you or your fellow players get hungry after play. In that case, you’ll be glad to know that there’s a restaurant and bar on site.
